Hey JG, whether the lights are out or not, I did not intend to displace your post from the venerable "first place" position with mine about DS from three years prior, but do agree that finding a good EPaso is exciting. One of my favorite Bob tunes, and yet, so often difficult for him (and the others?) to get just right.

Thanks for the tip.

No sweat master of arrows. It is the first time I've ever listened to this show and much of it is really right on. I will have to seek out a copy I can dl.

P.S. If I really want to I'll edit my original to bump you and get back that coveted 1st spot!!

;)

That would be warranted my friend. In any case, if I recall, the 8-6-71 show has a decent version of the song...but I could be completely wrong about that. I found that Bob had to have been "on" for the night for this song to work.

I'll make a note to check it out. In the mean time what is the deal with "Wave that Flag". Believe it or not this is the first time I've ever heard it - guess I'm still a neophyte. Sounds like Jerry is making up rhymes as he goes along in some places, it's actually pretty funny.

Everyday I find more good stuff about this band we love so much.

From the annotated site (which is a fun place to poke around):

Wave that Flag
An earlier version of the piece, titled "Wave That Flag," first appeared on February 9, 1973, and was dropped after June of that year. It has different lyrics, which are published in Hunter's A Box of Rain.

You can call this song the United States Blues....

Whoa...Sounds to me like Jerry stole that one away from Bobby! I dig it. This one has the first Eyes also.
